It looks like FCA still keeps the ‘Cuda name in the books

Just enough to keep our hopes high

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles does not want to give up the ‘Cuda name, as it just renewed its trademark on this name. Again. It happened in 2010, and 2015 also, giving (false) hope to fans anticipating of a modern Barracuda.

However, that means the ‘Cuda is still in FCA’s books, and the most feasible scenario is that it’s going to resurface as a Dodge Challenger Convertible special edition — most likely as a 700+ hp, V8 hairdryer.

As a brief history: Plymouth Barracuda debuted in 1964, the year the very successful Ford Mustang was launched — this being ‘Cuda’s biggest impediment on the road to success.

However, Plymouth kept upgrading the ‘Cuda, making it more and more desirable (read: powerful). In its prime, the 1970 and 1971 Barracudas were available with a trio of high-output engines and became an icon of the muscle car era.
