Its Shape May Be from the 1960s, but the Effeffe Berlinetta Has a Secret

You’ll probably find this car online if you search for “retro Italian Pornography,” which we didn’t, just so you know

If you’re like me and you think car designed peaked at some point in the late-to-mid 1950s, early-1960s, then you and I will be happy to note we’re not alone. Take the people who created the Effeffe Berlinetta, a car that looks like it’s from that period, yet is completely new and modern.

The company, Effeffe, is oh-so Italian, and its latest product looks like it has all the best Italian design cues from the era cherrypicked and packed into one car.

Underneath the sexy aluminum body it’s all tube frame chassis, featuring a wishbone setup up front and a fun sounding rigid rear axle with trailing arms; yes, it’s also a live rear axle too, which should make for entertaining handling characteristics.

Powering this bundle of all good things automotive and Italian is… another piece of Italy: an Alfa Romeo 2.0-liter naturally aspirated gas engine putting out 180 hp; it sends all of its power to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. Performance numbers are not quoted, but it weighs just under 800 kg so its briskness is unquestionable.

It features brake disks front and rear, with coilover suspension on all four corners too and white the rims and tires may look old-fashioned, both are really of the modern variety.

The price? $320,000 and worth every penny.
