Japan’s GLM G4 Electric Four-Door Supercar Wows Paris Auto Show Crowds

Supercar performance and decent driving range? GLM thinks it can do both

This year's Paris Motor Show marks the world debut of an exotic vehicle, the GLM (Green Lord Motors) G4 electric supercar.

Combining a sleek Dutch design with Japanese technology the project is backed by former Sony CEO Nobuyuki Idei, the founder of GLM. If the G4 looks familiar to you, it's because Green Lord Motors bought the design of the Roadyacht GTS project from Savage Rivale, a company created by three enthusiastic Dutchmen in 2008.

However, GLM got rid of the original project's old-fashioned V8 gasoline engine and installed two electric motors and batteries onto the molybdenum chassis clad with a carbon fiber body. While at it, they also changed the name, choosing a less creative and less ridiculous G4 moniker.

The result is quite spectacular, as you can see from these photos taken at the Paris Motor Show. If you look closely, you'll see it's a four-door supercar, with front scissor doors and gullwing rear doors. Engineers that previously worked for Toyota and Nissan have worked on the G4 project, so things are pretty serious at GLM.

The powertrain consists of two electric motors producing a combined 400 kW (536 hp) and 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque. Electricity is stored in a battery pack that's evenly split between the two axles for a weight distribution that favors sharp handling characteristics.

As you can imagine, the GLM G4 is blisteringly fast: it goes from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). And if you're gentle with the accelerator pedal, it can cover a theoretical driving range of 400 km (249 miles), according to the NEDC test cycle. Not bad for a first project, don't you think?
