Kia Niro Tackles Political Correctness in Super Bowl Commercial

This might sting a bit for some people, but remember: it’s just humor

“It’s hard to be an eco-warrior, but it’s easy to drive like one” is the motto of this utterly funny Kia Niro Hybrid commercial. Of course, it might not be an environmentalist’s cup of tea when it comes to ads, but it nevertheless delivers a message — albeit a consumeristic one.

The Niro Hybrid is Kia’s move against the iconic (in the fuel-sipping, environment-saving department) Toyota Prius. On paper, in entry-level FE guise, it returns 52 mpg in the city, 49 mpg on the highway, and a 50 mpg rating over the combined cycle.

Kia’s “Hero’s Journey” (that’s how it’s called) for the upcoming Super Bowl features comedy actress Melissa McCarthy, a person you can’t literally hate no matter what she's doing. Her fans will be delighted to know that Kia will give away 40 props from the commercial. Kia's US website has all the details on that.

However, it’s worth mentioning that in the same way as you don't brag to a vegetarian about eating vegetables as a side dish to a stake, you would be less hated if you didn’t call yourself an environmentalist for driving a Kia Niro. Better be quiet than sorry.
