Land Rover Built a Cabin for Two Adults That Fits into the Discovery Sport

You can’t buy one, unfortunately

Unlike most manufacturers, Land Rover is taking Christmas-themed gadgetry very seriously.

The automaker is proposing a high-level challenge: a cabin for two adults as an accessory for the 2017 Land Rover Discovery Sport, allegedly to help Santa Claus with his 24-hour journey around the world.

The components of the wooden foldable grotto can fit inside the Discovery Sport’s 1,698-liter “rear load space,” and was designed for providing a cozy environment in temperatures as low as -20°C.

“There is a growing trend for off-grid living and ‘wilderness cabins’ and only Land Rover could create a ‘go anywhere’ cabin like this. The design is cleverly engineered and incredibly robust, making it perfect for remote locations across the world,” said Kenton Cool, 12-times Everest climber and senior cabin-tester at Land Rover.

The shack is developed in collaboration with Danish architects LUMO and is designed to have a minimal impact on the environment, with its roof covered in solar panels.

If you want one, we've got bad news: it’s not for sale (at least not yet). Land Rover will be using the cabin over the next years to support ongoing partnerships and upcoming events.
