Let’s take a look at the fastest BMW on the Nürburgring

Does the 6m57s lap time says something to you?

The Norwegian racing team Setra Motorsport just took their BMW E46 M3 for a flying lap on the Nürburgring, and the result is a sub-seven-minute time from Bridge To Gantry.

It’s not the first time when we see this bonkers M3 flying on the N-Ring. It started four years ago, with a 7m30s BTG lap time.

You’d be tempted to say that Inge Hansesætre (the driver) and his BMW are as fast as the Porsche 918 Spyder. It’s not the case, as the two performed on tracks with different length.

But if you REALLY want to do this, you can, of course, say that while the Porsche 918 Spyder had a car-free Nürburgring ahead of it, the 1,340 kg (3,000 lbs), 600 hp BMW E46 M3 had to beat the traffic on its way to the finish line.

However, the comparison with a million-dollar hypercar is not relevant. What’s relevant is that Mr. Hansesætre likes his M3 manual and that he has incredible footwork. Also relevant is the fact that this BMW is the fastest ever on the Nürburgring. Hard to believe? See for yourself:
