Lucid Air shown in new color, still makes us drool over it

It’s the power output and range figures that sets our salivary glands, to be honest

The all-electric, luxurious saloon Lucid Air surfaced again recently, during the 2017 Monterey Car Week.

Although no additional info has been disclosed, the Air wears a new two-tone scheme, so as for now it’s just another kind reminder of how the electric car of the (near) future can look like — you can check it out in the comprehensive photo gallery above.

As for what we already know, the Lucid Air EV packs much more power (1,000 hp) than a Tesla Model S P100D (which is now the fastest accelerating production car in the world); however, the Air’s claimed naught-to-sixty miles per hour sprint time is 2.5 seconds. Not that you’ll be able to tell the 0.3-second difference between the two. Unleashed, the Air can reach 235 mph — that's just to give you a hint about its power-aerodynamics very refined relation.

If you opt for the 130 kWh battery pack, you’ll be able to cover an impressive 400 miles (644 kilometers) on a single charge, and, thanks to its autonomous driving tech, you won’t even have to keep your hands on the wheel all the time. That means you’ll have more for yourself, indulging in that posh, futuristic cabin.

The Air is expected to make its official debut in 2018, prices starting from $160,000 — with a more accessible, $100,000 version coming eventually. Thinking that this car might be seen on the streets next year is somehow dreamy. The electric future looks bright indeed.

Speaking of fast accelerating four wheelers, check out this neck-breaking electric go-kart that can humiliate any other vehicle on this planet, at least theoretically. Although controlling it might be an issue.
