Mazda MX-5 Gets Arctic Limited Edition in the UK

The Miata is getting ready for winter with upgraded looks and equipment

Mazda UK wants to convince customers that winter is not a bad season to buy an MX-5 roadster by launching a new Arctic limited edition model.

Going on sale in February 2017 with a starting price of £20,995, the MX-5 Arctic will be built in a limited run of 400 units that combine subtle exterior design tweaks with improved equipment.

Styling upgrades consist of the Blue Reflex Metallic paint and contrasting bright silver elements. The latter include the windscreen surround, wing mirrors, headrest hoops, and 16-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the MX-5 Arctic gets silver bits as well, such as the cup holder rings and chrome scuff plates. There's also a numbered limited edition badge on the dashboard. It's the second time Mazda has used the Arctic badge on the MX-5 after the second-generation model in 2005.

Based on the SE-L Nav model with the 131 PS (129 hp) 1.5-liter engine, the MX-5 Arctic comes with an upgraded spec sheet including stuff that's good to have in winter such as heated leather seats, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers and rear parking sensors.
