A real milestone for a small, fairly new supercar manufacturer

McLaren is rightfully proud to announce the building of its 15,000th vehicle since it was founded as an independent company in 2010. Of those, it managed to sell 3,340 cars last year alone, thanks to the introduction of more and more affordable Sports Series models, like the 570S and 540C.

The automaker exports over 90 percent of its total production to over 30 markets outside the UK through a network of 85 retailers. It’s come long way from the first MP4-12C which was approved for shipping July 18, 2011 and it’s really shaken up the super- and hypercar segment. Car number 15,000 is a 570S Spider in Curacao Blue pictured here outside the firm’s headquarters in Woking.

According to Mike Flewitt, Chief Executive Officer for McLaren Automotive, “Reaching 15,000 cars built is a significant milestone for McLaren Automotive and comes under 18 months after we hit 10,000 vehicles, showing how demand and production have increased . The Sports Series has been pivotal to driving this growth, with the 570S Spider now the most popular of the range. The fact we are now able to produce 20 cars a day is of course a great testament to the hard work and dedication of every one of our workforce, who should feel justifably proud and part of this great team effort.“
