Maybe there’s something to learn from this one

The world of advertising exploits everything to make us feel the impulse to buy stuff we don't necessarily need. This is how it works in every area, and the car industry makes no exception. In some there are feature highlights, in others, you witness creepy experiments. Some are doing really weird references.

Here, however, you get told the story of Miua, who’s “chased by the constant fear of missing out and too little awareness,” a feeling that can make us all millennials feel for her. Fortunately, she meets Jonathan, “the peace and quiet she was missing in her life.” Jonathan drives a C-Class Coupé, in case you were wondering where does the car come in.

Of course, the millennials will probably miss out on this beautiful peace and love story once the typical millennial questions start being addressed: “Where does Jonathan have all this money?” “Does he still lives with his parents, to afford the monthly payment for a brand-new C-Class?” "What are the running costs for this one?" "Is it much more expensive than a 220 CDI?" "Will I ever afford a brand-new Mercedes?" You know, stuff like that.

But maybe they're right. Maybe we should ignore this stupid fear and live a little. Now go find a lover who owns a Mercedes-Benz!

We may have been a bit mean to this commercial. I mean, we've seen worse. Much worse.
