Mercedes-Benz Launches 362 HP GLE 450 AMG 4Matic

GLE 450 AMG bridges the gap between regular GLE models and the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 high-performance version

Mercedes-Benz is expanding its range of AMG Sport models with the GLE 450 AMG 4Matic, the third AMG Sport model after the C 450 AMG and GLE 450 AMG Coupe.

Positioned below the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63, the GLE 450 AMG is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 biturbo engine delivering 367 PS (362 hp) and 520 Nm (383lb-ft) of torque. Other important features include a specific AMG suspension, Sports Direct-Steer system, 9-speed automatic transmission 9G‑Tronic and a rear-biased permanent all-wheel drive 4Matic.

Mercedes-Benz says the GLE 450 AMG offers impressive acceleration, handling and top speed that are “on a par with those of sports saloons.” The model sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). Average fuel consumption is 8.6 l/100 km (27.3 mpg US), while CO2 emissions are 199 g/km.

The driving characteristics of the GLE 450 AMG can be modified depending on the driving situation, with five programs on offer: Individual, Comfort, Slippery, Sport and Sport Plus. Each of these programs modifies various parameters including throttle response, shift speed, chassis, steering, engine sound or instrumentation.

The sporty SUV comes as standard with the Airmatic package including an air suspension, infinitely variable adaptive damping system (ADS Plus) and automatic level control. In “Sport” and “Sport Plus” mode the body is lowered by 15 mm (0.59 in).

Design-wise, the GLE 450 AMG features sporty details including chromed twin tailpipe trims, black-painted 20-inch light-alloy wheels and exclusive trim in black and silver chrome.
