Mercedes’ compact roadster, the SLK, has been renamed the SLC for the 2017 model year
On sale from April 2016 in Europe, the Mercedes-Benz SLC will be priced more competitively than its predecessor, despite the fact that it brings a refreshed design and new technologies.
Prices in Germany start at €34,926.50 for the SLC 180 entry-level model, powered by a 156 PS 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine. That's a pretty good deal compared with the similarly-equipped previous-generation model, which retailed for €39,656.75.
Next in the range is the SLC 200, which packs a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine rated at 184 PS and is available in Germany from €39,805.50. The same engine is available in a more powerful state of tune in the SLC 300, which has 245 PS and costs from €46,380.25. Mercedes-Benz also offers a diesel-powered SLC 250d model, equipped with a 2.1-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 204 PS and an impressive 500 Nm of torque. The SLC 250d retails for €43,524.25 in Germany.
Finally, Mercedes-AMG's high-performance SLC 43 features a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 gasoline engine producing 367 PS and 520 Nm of torque. Prices for this model start from €59,886.75.
As part of the facelift, designers have given the SLC a new front section with a striking, steeply raked diamond radiator grille offered as standard for all models. Standard equipment includes Active Brake Assist, Attention Assist, panoramic vario-roof, multifunction sports steering wheel in Nappa leather, Audio 20 CD infotainment system, and air conditioning and LED tail lamps.
The SLC is also available with the Dynamic Select system, which adjusts the engine, transmission, steering and suspension response – the latter in combination with the Dynamic Handling package. Other features available on the SLC include the LED Intelligent Light System, Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus, panoramic vario-roof with Magic Sky Control, and an automatic boot separator that automatically moves down when the roof is opened.
