MG Gives MG3 More Economical Engine, New Equipment For 2016MY

MG MG3 gets styling, mechanical and equipment updates for the 2016 model year

Going on sale in late November 2015, the MG3 is said to offer better fuel economy and lower emissions thanks to the switch to the EU6 standard. The 1.5-liter petrol engine now emits 124 g/km CO2 and burns less fuel, partly due to a standard stop-start system.

The VTi-TECH four-cylinder engine is rated at 105 PS (104 hp) and works together with a five-speed manual transmissions.

As for styling changes, the MG3 now offers an updated personalization range with two new body colors (Red Rose and Hello Yellow) that are available with selected roof color combinations – white or black. The only structural design tweak is the new chrome grille that complements the MG family face.

Customers can choose from five trim levels: 3Time, 3Form, 3Form Sport and 3Style. Prices range from £8,399 for the base model to £10,499 for the range-topping variant, which comes with 16-inch “Diamond” alloy wheels and a sporty body kit including a rear boot spoiler and side sill extensions. Standard equipment includes cruise control, automatic lights and windscreen wipers and reverse parking sensors.

MG also offers a 3Style Lux version which adds leather seats (£10,999). The MG3 is the second new generation MG to be built at the company’s Birmingham plant in the UK, following the introduction of the MG6.
