Modernized, Improved AC Cobra Coming in 2017

The original icon will be given a mild technical makeover to improve dependability and usability

The AC Cobra is an iconic name in the world of vintage sports cars as back in the day it was the only car capable of keeping up with the likes of Ferrari. It became hugely popular and now you can buy any number of kits or from AC Automotive itself, as the company is still in business.

In fact, they’ve just announced that sometime next year they will bring out a modernized version in an attempt to make it more reliable and easier to live with.

Autocar quotes company owner Alan Lubinsky who said “It’s a quasi-modern car, you can use it every day if you want. It’s had significant upgrades but the underlying hardware – the chassis and surrounding parts – are essentially as they were before, just with more modern mechanicals.”

The car will be available in Europe, Hong Kong and China and even the US. Two versions of the same 6.2-liter V8 engine will be offered: a 440 hp naturally aspirated one or one with a supercharger and 550 hp.

Pricing for the revised classic Cobra will kick off at under £100,000, which equates to €115,000 or $126,000.
