New Mercedes-AMG A 35 4Matic debuts in sedan guise
Powered by the same 2-liter turbo mill as its hatchback sibling
Looking for a somewhat affordable AMG model that’s not a hatchback? Search no more, the Mercedes-AMG A 35 4Matic saloon is here.
It is, essentially, just a different body on the same platform, which means the 2-liter, four-cylinder turbo petrol engine makes 225 kW (306 PS, 301 hp), 400 Nm of torque and is twinned to the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7G dual-clutch transmission.
In this setup, the Merc-AMG A 35 4Matic sedan needs 4.8 seconds to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill. Top speed is electronically limited at 250 km/h (155 mph).
Mercedes says that the entry-level AMG in sedan form sits on a wheelbase of 2,729 mm, which allows for a boot volume of 420 liters.
As its name suggests, Affalterbach’s go-fast compact car gets the variable AMG Performance 4Matic all-wheel-drive setup plus the likes of AMG DYNAMIC SELECT (Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Individual) and AMG suspension with a four-link rear axle configuration.
Stopping power comes from 4-piston calipers that bite into 350-mm discs up front and 1-piston sliding calipers grabbing 330-mm discs at the rear.
