Skoda’s sales hit will reach its fourth generation in 2019

2019 is the year that marks Skoda’s 60th anniversary, but it will also be the birth year of the forth-generation Skoda Octavia.

During the carmaker’s annual press conference, new Skoda chief Bernhard Maier announced a lofty plan to introduce 30 models until 2022, out of which 10 will employ some form of electrification (BEV, plug-in hybrid or hybrid)

Coming back to the matter at hand, the new Skoda Octavia will launch towards the end of the year – Frankfurt seems like a pretty good bet – but unfortunately, we can’t tell you much about the car itself as info is still scarce.

However, it will most likely be underpinned by the MQB platform used widely across the VW Group, with engines being shared with the current range of VW and Seat models.

Moreover, give the Group’s interest in in-car technology, the new Octavia might also receive a hefty tech pack, which will in turn see its cockpit depleted of physical buttons and dominated by digital thingamajigs.

We’ll keep you posted as soon as new info emerges.
