While you can use Google Trends to find out which car is popular on the web in which country, it’s better when somebody else compiles that information and makes a colorful self-explanatory map out of the data. UK’s Quickco made a map of the world where each country’s top automotive search is visually represented.
We therefor learn about Niger’s inexplicable affinity for the Bugatti brand, or the fact that the only African country where Hyundai is a top search is Angola, with the Korean brand dominating searches in Russia and India. Chevrolet is popular only among Central and South American nations, while Volvo is only tops in its native Sweden; and yes, Mercedes reigns supreme in Albania, while the world’s only country where Peugeot is the top search is Denmark.
A total of 193 countries are analyzed, so there are some where data is unavailable.
The big picture is that Toyota is still most popular, followed by BMW, while at the other end of the spectrum we have Ford which is no country’s favorite. Heck, even Suzuki managed to find a nation to love it and that nation is Costa Rica.
