Renault Puts 275 HP 2.0-Liter Engine in a Clio, Calls it a Concept

It’s the same turbocharged unit you find powering the hottest Megane RS

Renault has chosen to create a unique, more powerful version of its Clio RS, in order to celebrate the 40th anniversary of RenaultSport. What the French automaker created is really rather special and called Clio R.S. 16.

The concept uses the 275 hp engine out of the Megane Trophy, the rear axle from the rally-spec Clio, as well as other beefed up bits. In spite of it having a later displacement engine (2.0-liter up from 1.6-liter), the R.S. 16 is actually lighter than regular Clio RS models.

No performance number were given, but 100 km/h should happen in well under six seconds.

Renault has no plans to put anything even remotely similar to this into production. Yes, we’d love it if they made a super-limited series model based on the same formula, but we know that’s not going to happen.

Even so, it’s fun to see the that formula works, and if you want to see how, do check out the selection of videos and photos herein.
