Here are the safest cars you can buy right now in the US

IIHS has published a list of its Top Safety Pick+ choices for 2019 and it includes 30 vehicles.

These cars have earned the highest rating for passenger-side protection during the small overlap front crash and feature headlights rated as “good” by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

Since the Top Safety Pick+ honor was introduced back in 2013, IIHS has constantly increased its strictness, forcing carmakers to permanently take actions towards improving their cars’ safety levels.

“We challenged manufacturers to provide the best possible protection in a range of crash scenarios and equip vehicles with an automatic emergency brake system to avoid crashes, as well as offer headlights that give drivers confidence when travelling at night.”

This year’s rankings see a wealth of Asian brands offer a top-shelf performance, including the likes of Subaru (who has seven Top Safety Pick+ cars), Hyundai, Kia, Genesis, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota and Lexus.

So here they are, every Top Safety Pick+ car that’s been rated so by the IIHS, split into segments.
