The Spanish brand’s SUV lineup will soon go from one to three models
Later this year, the Spanish brand will bring to market the Arona B-segment SUV that will slot below the Ateca in the range. Early next year, the biggest SEAT SUV will follow, a seven-seat model that will become the flagship of the brand's lineup.
While SEAT is asking fans for ideas to name the three-row SUV, we don't really know what it will look like. Sure, there's one official image available, but it's a dark, blurry pic that doesn't reveal much.
Thankfully, our automotive illustrator has rendered SEAT's flagship SUV, so you know what to expect when it launches next year. Based on the official teaser image and using design cues seen on the Ateca and other current SEAT models, the rendering looks very plausible and SEAT-ish.
The LED DRL signature is there, as are the creases on the sides of the bodywork and the bonnet, as well as typical SEAT design cues such as the rectangular upper grille dominated by the brand's logo and the trapezoidal lower grille. We think the design is spot on and likely to preview the production model very accurately.
Information about the upcoming SUV is scarce for the moment. We do know that it will offer both five- and seven-seat versions, and will be made at the Volkswagen plant in Wolfsburg. That's because it will use the midsize MQB A2 platform that is already installed at the German facility.
Expect a similar mix of turbocharged gasoline and diesel units as in the Ateca.
