Skoda readies up updated Vision E Concept for Frankfurt

Slightly updated would be a better way to put it, in fact

Although not entirely news material, Skoda's Vision E Concept is a significant step in the brand's life as it aligns with the electrification efforts trigged by the parent VW Group.

In short, the Vision E remains Skoda's first-ever full-electric concept. Initially shown at Auto Shanghai, it will also take a bow next month at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show.

So, what's to expect? Besides opposed-opening doors, swivel seats and cameras acting as side mirrors, the Vision E sports a new face, which Skoda says has been "developed further and now has even more character."

Inside, the panorama includes tactile displays, voice and gesture control and even a digital doctor that traces fatigue, alertness, and heart rate.

On the powertrain front, the Vision E employs two electric motors with a combined output of 225 kW (306 PS) and Level 3 autonomous abilities.

Top speed is estimated at 180 km/h (112 mph) and provided you're not trying to verify that claim, the Vision E can travel for 500 km (310 miles) of a full charge. Charging the battery pack is done through induction, but Skoda doesn't go into specifics concerning that bit of info.

In the meantime, someone took the time to draw a pickup version of the Vision E concept. Would you have one, America?
