Spyker Prices C8 Preliator, Confirms UK Assembly for the Model

Powering the C8 is a 4.2-liter V8 borrowed from Audi, blown to make 518 hp

Dutch maker of hand-crafted supercars, Spyker, has just revealed pricing information for its latest offering dubbed C8 Preliator. Only 50 examples are planned for production, set to be sold at $354,990 a pop, although you will have to shell out some extra cash for options.

Powering the C8 is a 4.2-liter V8 borrowed from Audi, blown to make 518 hp and hooked up to a manual six-speed gearbox. You can opt for a ZF self-shifter, but that will set you back a reported $8,000 over the base price.

Even with the supercharger, performance is not blistering by modern supercar standards; sixty comes up in a little over 3.5 seconds and its top speed of 323 km/h (201 mph) is the kind of speed fast saloons and estates cruise at in Germany…

But the C8 and Spyker as a brand are not about the numbers. In fact, they’re about the experience of looking at the car, sitting in it, being seen in it and giving it the occasional squirt of throttle on a twisty road.

With Spyker, it’s the design you’re buying (or rather buying into) and like with its previous offerings, the retro aviation theme is still very strong. It’s evident all throughout the car and bestows a very unique feel upon it – it looks boutique and hand-crafted.

If you think about it, this car will undoubtedly turn heads just like a Pagani will yet you’re paying a fraction of that car’s price. Yes, it may not be as special (or fast) as a Huayra, but the stage presence is all there.

Additionally, Spyker is also readying a smaller and cheaper model, dubbed C6 Venator; it debuted in pre-production study form some three years ago and if it does become a series model, it will cost less than half of what this B8 is going for.
