The old Ford GT is the fastest car in the world*

*Some modifications have been made

A previous-generation Ford GT managed a quick update to the Fastest Car In The World chapter, exceeding the 290 mph (466.71 km/h) mark. You'll reckon it's a lot faster than how much the Bugatti Chiron can achieve.

During this weekend's Texas Mile event, the eleven-year-old supercar topped at 293.6 mph (472.5 km/h), which is 10.4 miles-per-hour more than the previous world record — of 283.2 mph (477.5 km/h) set in 2012 also by a Ford GT.

As for the new record-holder, we know it's a 2006 GT worked on by M2K Motorsports. Its 5.4-liter V8 power plant is modded by Accufab Racing — specialized, among other stuff, in turbocharging and supercharging engines — and features a MoTeC ECU unit, and NCS Designs wiring. The suspension setup and the aerodynamics are signed by Ahlman Engineering. It might not be as good looking as the actual Ford GT, but, with the right setup, it can go fast.

It doesn't say how much horsepower this Ford GT packs, but it's clear that there are more than 1,700 — that's how much the previous record-holder had. So, what's your guess?
