The new Mégane line-up is receiving one more body: a beautiful four-door sedan, unfortunately, named Grand Coupé

The French manufacturer just released a batch of images with the new Mégane Sedan, a compact saloon that looks nothing short of beautiful.
There are a lot of hatchbacks-turned-into-sedans out there, but not many of them are what you’d call desirable. Renault got Mégane Sedan’s proportions as right as they could possibly do, if you ask me. And then they screwed up with the Grand Coupé part. #marketing

Fortunately, this flamboyant name will be applied in certain countries – from the 20-something markets it will sell on, including Algeria, Australia, Egypt, UAE, Morocco, Tunisia, Lebanon or Saudi Arabia.

So what does it share with the hatchback/estate counterparts, if not the looks? First of all, you’ll find all the safety kit bits offered on its platform siblings, along the 8.7-inch color TFT display for the R-Link 2 infotainment system.

As for the engine line-up, there’ll be a choice of two gasoline and three diesel units (depending on the market). The dCi 90, dCi 110 and dCi 130 engines are mated to a six-speed manual, with the dCi 110 being available with a six-speed double-clutch EDC transmission. The gasoline line-up comprises an atmospheric SCe 115 unit (mated to a five-speed manual or a CVT automatic ‘box) and a turbocharged TCe 130 (offered with a six-speed manual or a seven-speed EDC).

We wonder if the Mégane Sedan will feature 4CONTROL as well as the hatchback and estate versions – we’ve tested it on the Mégane GT and the Talisman and it's the new must-have on your new Renault.
