This is the new Tesla Model 3, Elon Musk’s $35,000 electric sedan

Revealed by Tesla’s top man himself on Twitter

Chassis number #1 of Tesla's Model 3 has been finally unveiled on the Internet after Tesla CEO Elon Musk took to Twitter to publish two pictures of the all-electric affordable sedan.

The news came as a succession of tweets with the first one announcing production unit 1 of Model 3 was built and scheduled to undergo the final checkout.

Shortly after, Mr. Musk tweeted two pictures – at your disposal in the photo gallery – showing the first Tesla Model 3 to leave the production line.

Tesla's Model 3 has been a highly discussed topic in the build-up to the model's reveal.

Buyers keen to get one had to pay a $1,000 deposit. The electric sedan's starting sticker is $35,000, but that didn't stop 115,000 soon-to-be customers to pay $115 million worth of down payments in the first 24 hours from the opening of Model 3's order books just to secure a car. Performance-wise, the Model 3 is good for a maximum range of 215 miles (346 km) and requires just 5.6 seconds to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) from a standstill.

Those interested in practicality details should know the Model 3 offers 14 cu-ft (396.4 liters) of cargo space. Overall length stretches at 184.8 inches (4.69 m).

The Model 3's appearance coincides with a two-week-old report saying the battery production at Tesla's Gigafactory in Nevada was already up and running.

What's more, Tesla hopes it can assemble 500,000 every year. With deliveries scheduled to begin on July 28, Elon Musk hopes they'll grow exponentially and jump from 100 in August to 1,500 come September.

According to Musk's calculations, the carmaker could be able to build 20,000 Model 3 units per month in December.
