Searching the soul of a car in under three minutes

In case you didn’t know, Idris Elba is quite the car guy who has tested and tried pretty much all there is when it comes to motorized vehicles.

His father worked at the Ford factory in Dagenham and later on he would work there as well, before landing his big break as Stringer Bell in The Wire. He’s also collaborated with Jaguar on a couple of commercials in the past years and is now working with Discovery Channel on the “Idris Elba: No Limits” documentary, where he drives dragsters, rally cars and luxury cars alike.

As part of promotional work for the new Grand Basel show – an attempt to gather the world’s most remarkable vehicle of all times and ages – Idris Elba asks the question “what gives cars a soul?” and tries to answer it in an emotional video shot inside the Lingotto car plant in Turin, Italy.

We're also keen to know what's a car's charm in your opinion. The looks? The history? Maybe the mechanics or a feature that caught your eye? Let us know, but not before watching the video below.
