But it will also eat up your lunch break

Before the likes of Veyron and Chiron, one Bugatti model twisted necks and dilated the pupils of the rich while shrinking their bank accounts: meet the EB110.

Not many people know this, but the year was 1987 when Italian entrepreneur Romano Artioli acquired the rights to a long-time sleeping Bugatti brand. Soon after, Bugatti Automobili S.p.A. was established in Campogalliano, Italy, and (more) history pages were about to be written.

Over four years, Artioli worked with skilled partners to develop a supercar which would debut in 1991 on Place de la Défense in Paris. The reason? To mark Ettore Bugatti's 110th birthday. But what was the limited (to just 139 units) Bugatti EB110 all about?

Well, back then it set a few milestones. It was the first car ever to feature a carbon-fiber chassis, it hid a mid-mounted 3.5-liter V12 slapped with four (!) turbos and relied on a permanent all-wheel drive system. Power output stood at 560 hp while the Bugatti EB110 tipped the scales at approximately 1,600 kilos, allowing it to reach 351 km/h in its most dynamic iteration which went by the name of EB110 Super Sport.
