Thor Trucks’ ET-One electric rig is the competition Tesla needs

It also has the looks, don’t you think?

With electric cars gathering momentum from month to month, a new niche opens up when it comes to long-distance transportation, namely electric trucks. And while Tesla might be a significant player, there are others lining up for a piece of the pie.

Enter Thor Trucks – an LA-based start-up – and the ET-One electric semi, a Class 8 green truck “built to haul 80,000 pounds.” Sounds familiar?

Its battery pack offers a maximum range of up to 300 miles (483 km), which is less than what Tesla’s Semi offers (500 miles/800+ km) while the powertrain can be tuned to deliver anywhere between 300 and 700 hp.

Moreover, the company says their battery pack was created specifically for commercial heavy-duty applications.

Safety-wise, ET-One employs regenerative braking and a plethora of onboard safety systems, but that’s all we get so far from Thor Trucks.

For the sake of diversity, you should know that there are other solutions for green hauling waiting out there. Cummins’ fully-functional electric truck is one of them, but the Nikola One is also worth looking at.
