Volkswagen’s So-Called Teramont Midsize SUV To Debut Stateside with 2.0 TSI and 3.6 V6 Engines

Will reach North American markets in spring 2017

Some spy photographers could become unemployed if carmakers start producing videos or photos with their own camoed models, as it is the case with Volkswagen and the upcoming Teramont SUV.

"The SUV Americans can look forward to" is based on the CrossBlue prototype presented in 2013, but VW claims the Teramont is 50 mm longer than the concept; at 5,039 mm, it's also longer than the Tiguan.

Furthermore, the new midsize SUV will offer seven seats arranged in three rows, as opposed to the six-seat arrangement proposed by the CrossBlue concept.

Two engines will sit under the Teramont's hood. The entry level is a 2.0-liter TSI unit good for 238 hp, topped by a 3.6-liter V6 engine – the same used by the VW Passat and Touareg – with 280 hp on tap.

Reports also say VW's latest SUV offering in the US will debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November, with full production scheduled to begin at the Chattanooga plant in Tennessee.
