Things are not as easy as you think they are

The new 2018 Dodge Demon has to prove itself worthy of its name and beat other competitors in the straight line. But how will it fare against a 707-hp Hellcat?

If you want a proper drag-racing stock machine, the 2018 Dodge Challenger Demon is the obvious choice: its 6.2-liter supercharged V8 develops 840 hp and 770 ft-lb of torque (1044 Nm), needs just 2.3 seconds for the 0-60 mph sprint run and eats up a quarter mile in just 9.65 seconds, at 140 mph. At least, this is what the paper specs tell us. In the other corner, the 2017 Dodge Challenger Hellcat is still a powerful competitor, with its 6.2-liter V8 churning out 707 hp (717 PS) and 650 ft-lb (881 Nm) of torque.

The Demon should be the fastest stock car on the drag strip for at least a couple of years, but this also depends on what the driver knows to do with the car and on several other elements, like demonstrated by its failure to match the Jeep Trackhawk's maximum speed. Which is a completely another thing, you say, and I agree, but still. Watch the video below and see how fast the Demon is in real life.
