We can’t see a reason why this Ford Focus Coupé shouldn’t enter production

But it most likely won’t

The new 2019 Ford Focus is out and about on the internet and not so much water will pass under the bridge before Ford kicks off the press test drives followed by the model’s market launch. So yeah, it’s early days to even consider a coupé version, but we’ll do it anyway.

That’s mainly because we stumbled upon X-Tomi Design’s latest rendering and from where we’re standing, it sure looks doable. Unluckily, there’s not much of a case for it because guess what: it’s 2018 and (most) people have the hots for high-riding SUVs and crossovers instead of sleeker but less practical cars.

And while coupés might be an old flame of Ford’s – see the likes of Puma, Cougar and Probe – who knows, maybe a reinterpretation of those days based on the new Ford Focus might even create enough buzz to actually start a niche among FoMoCo’s customer base.

They’d also have the engines for it – even the 1-liter EcoBoost engine (in its higher states of tune) could pull its own weight and more on such a car, provided, of course, the lightweight aspect is well-present.

Maybe throw in some extra design work on those Volvo-style headlights to give them an original flavor and the Ford Focus Coupé as rendered in the image above would be good to go. What do you think?
