We try out the 2018 Hyundai Veloster N… in Forza Motorsport 7

If it drives as well in real life, we’re in for a treat

Hyundai really wants to be taken seriously as a performance manufacturer so it’s created a separate sporty brand whose first offerings are a pair of FWD hot hatches.

One of the two is the Veloster N which is both a coupe and a conventional hatch at the same time. It retains the same one door on one side, two doors on the other design as the pervious one, but in N guise now packs an impressive 275 hp.

The Veloster N only just got revealed last week at the 2018 Detroit auto show, but we’re edging to try it out and the only place we currently can is in Forza Motorsport 7. In-game, I did a shakedown session on the Top Gear track to see what it’s like, then a race against opponents and at the end a series of drag races against comparable models.

I couldn’t choose exactly which cars I went up against, and out of all the hot hatches chosen by the game, the drag races against the MINI Cooper JCW, Renault Megane RS Trophy and VW Scirocco R were the most relevant and thus made it into the final video posted below.
