A Demon-flavored Hellcat might be a good idea
These spy photos of a curious Hellcat-badged, widebody Dodge Challenger prototype actually raise more questions than answers.
What we see in these pics taken at Dodge's headquarters in Detroit is a Challenger SRT Hellcat seasoned with bits taken from the Demon, including the widebody fenders and front fascia. However, the hood comes from the Hellcat, as does the rear badging. The wheels and tires are different from the Demon as well.
So what is it? Is Dodge planning an appearance pack that combines the Demon looks with the Hellcat hardware? That sounds like the most plausible idea because many people crave for the Demon's appearance but are not willing to pay the hefty price tag of Dodge's street-legal drag racer.
Still, we could also be looking at Dodge's answer to the Ford Mustang Shelby GT 350 and Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE — a performance-oriented Challenger that can also be capable in corners.
Whatever this prototype represents, a widebody Hellcat is expected to debut this summer.
