2016 Jeep Wrangler Backcountry Is Ready For The Winter

The Jeep Wrangler Backcountry special edition model targets customers from cold climate areas

Jeep had no major launches at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show, but brought two special edition models based on the Grand Cherokee and Wrangler.

The 2016 Jeep Wrangler Backcountry is aimed mostly at customers living in cold climate areas, as the special edition model is equipped with a series of off-road capability features to tackle the toughest winter months.

Based on the Wrangler Sahara, the special edition model features a Backcountry decal on the front fender and rear quarter panel, off-road bumpers with powder coating, 17-inch Rubicon wheels painted in Mid-gloss Black and a black fuel fill door.

The Wrangler Backcountry comes as standard with Rubicon rock rails, while Sahara side steps are available at no additional charge. A black hard top is standard, while an optional body color hard top is optional. Customers can order the car in five colors – Hydro Blue, Black, Bright White, Granite Crystal and Xtreme Purple –  with the latter being exclusive to the Backcountry.

Interior appointments include Piano Black vent rings, door handles and grab handles, a vinyl-wrapped console lid, door armrests with Diesel Gray accent stitching and black McKinley leather seat bolsters with black sport mesh inserts. A nine-speaker premium Alpine sound system, Bluetooth hands-free Connectivity Group and all-weather slush mats are also standard equipment.

The 2016 Jeep Wrangler Backcountry arrives in U.S. dealerships in late November.
