Would a Porsche Cayenne SUV turned pickup truck surprise anyone?

Porsche-Cayenne-Pickup

Welcome to the internet

As far as our knowledge goes, Porsche will not pull a Mercedes-Benz X-Class stunt just yet and offer a pickup truck. But if they do, it could be based on the Cayenne SUV and look a lot like this.

Right, so Mercedes created the premium pickup truck niche with the X-Class and we’re yet to see if other carmakers will join the party. In the meanwhile, the internet provides a good answer to the “what if” question over a utilitarian Porsche.

We sincerely hope this doesn’t happen in real life, but as we’ve often learned, it’s the abominations that prove the most successful as the car industry “evolves” – take SUVs and crossovers, for example, together with the fact that the Cayenne is still Porsche’s best-selling model. Followed by the Macan, of course.

Unlike Mercedes, who developed partnerships with Nissan and Renault – leading to a shared platform between the X-Class, Alaskan and Navara NP300 – Porsche would indeed have to regard the Cayenne as potential donor car for a pickup truck’s underpinnings. Again, we fervently wish they don’t.

That being said, should the rendering above – the work of X-Tomi Design – give you nightmares, here’s our experience as passengers in the new 2018 Porsche Cayenne SUV both on and off the road.

Or maybe you’re an SUV detractor like the undersigned and the 2018 Porsche Panamera Sports Turismo makes more sense to you.
