Limited Edition Mopar ’17 Dodge Challenger Brings Back Memories

Nostalgia never looked better

Mopar's highlight at the Chicago Auto Show is the '17 Dodge Challenger limited edition vehicle, which is part of the aftermarket brand's celebration of its 80th anniversary.

Combining retro styling cues with performance upgrades, the Mopar '17 Dodge Challenger will be available in two color options, each to be produced in a limited run of 80 units.

The combinations are Pitch Black/Contusion Blue and Pitch Black/Billet Silver, each featuring hand-painted, custom trim options. Besides the custom colors, the Mopar '17 Dodge Challenger stands out thanks to a hand-painted Mopar 392 logo, Shaker Hood package with Shaker Hood scoop, SRT Hellcat black exhaust tips, as well as rear decklid spoiler with Mopar Design badge.

The limited-edition Challenger rides on 20-inch aluminum wheels with semi-gloss accents and center caps with Dodge logo. And when the hood lifts, a serialized Mopar '17 80th Anniversary badge can be seen.

Inside, the Mopar '17 Dodge Challenger lures buyers with its performance seats featuring embroidered Tungsten Mopar logos and Tungsten stitching.

As for performance, the limited-edition Challenger features a six-speed manual transmission from the R/T 392, combined with the 6.4-liter 392 HEMI V8 engine rated at 485 hp and 475 lb-ft (643 Nm) of torque. A Mopar cold air intake is also fitted, as well as an air catcher duct system via the headlamp.

This upgrade is inspired by the Challenger SRT Hellcat, and its role is to feed additional cold air into the vehicle. Handling-wise, the addition of silver powder-coated Mopar Shaker strut tower braces and caps is said to increase rigidity and handling. Stopping power is provided by four-piston Brembo brakes.

The Mopar '17 Dodge Challenger will arrive in U.S. dealerships in the second quarter of 2017 with an MSRP of $55,790, excluding taxes and destination fees.
