2017 BMW 30 Jahre M3 Limited Edition Arrives in the U.S. with a $83,250 Base Price

The anniversary model packs many styling and performance goodies for hardcore BMW M fans

BMW M enthusiasts in the United States have a reason to celebrate as the Bavarian automaker has announced pricing and detailed information about the 30 Jahre M3 anniversary model, of which 150 units will cross the Atlantic (from a total of 500).

Celebrating 30 years since the launch of the original BMW M3, the 30 Jahre M3 honors its ancestor with both exterior and interior design cues.

The model comes painted exclusively in the BMW Individual color Macao Blue metallic, a hue that was offered as an option in Europe for the last and most powerful version of the first generation of the Sport Evo BMW M3. Other unique exterior touches include a high-gloss finish for the kidney and window frames, as well as a sports exhaust system with black chrome tailpipes.

Inside, the 30 Jahre M3 features Full Merino Leather in bi-color Black/Fjord Blue with color-matching contrast seams, M sports seats with woven-in BMW M stripes and embroidered front headrests, carbon fiber trim with black chrome accents, and the “30 Jahre M3” logo.

Performance-wise, all anniversary models are fitted with the Competition Package, which increases engine output by 19 hp to 444 hp. The pack also includes the Adaptive M suspension with new springs, dampers and stabilizers, upgraded driving modes, a modified standard Active M differential on the rear axle and new Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) feature settings.

In addition, U.S.-specific standard features include the Driver Assistance Plus Package, the Executive Package, and adaptive full LED lights with automatic high beams.

All 30 Jahre M3s come with 20-inch forged Light Alloy wheels with 666 M star spoke design and mixed Performance Tires (265/30 R20 at the front, 285/30 R20 at the rear).

As a result of all these upgrades, the 2017 BMW 30 Jahre M3 sprints from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 3.8 seconds with the M DCT and 4.0 seconds with the manual.

The 2017 BMW 30 Jahre M3 anniversary edition can be ordered in the United States from August with a starting price of $83,250 for the six-speed manual version and $86,150 for the seven-speed dual-clutch model (both prices excluding destination).
