All-new 2018 Renault Mégane RS to debut in Monaco on May 26

Replace the camouflage with a yellow and black livery for a more accurate image

Renault's widely-anticipated all-new Megane RS finally has an official debut date: May 26, on Monaco's famous street racing track.

For its first public appearance on the eve of the F1 Monaco Grand Prix, the French hot hatch will sport a yellow and black livery to mark the 40th anniversary of Renault Sport's involvement in Formula 1. The French team's driver Nico Hülkenberg will be behind the wheel.

There are no official details available about the new Mégane RS, but the car is expected to continue with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine, albeit reworked to develop around 300 hp. As with the Mégane GT, the chassis is likely to get rear-wheel steering for more agility in corners and more stability at high speeds.

As before, a six-speed manual transmission will be standard, with a dual-clutch automatic expected to make the options list – a first time for the Mégane RS. Another first will be the lack of a three-door body style, as the new compact hot hatch will only be available in a five-door configuration.

The formal debut of the new Mégane RS will take place at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
