Daymak C5 promises us the fastest go-kart on the planet

Electricity comes with a lot of fans in this one

In the context of automotive world’s performances, Tesla Model S P100D’s 2.28-second 0-to-60 mph launch looked like something out of this world. There's even one guy that prepped a Model S for drag racing, annoying a lot of combustion engine lovers. But this go-kart’s acceleration figure is downright neck snapping.

It’s called Daymak C5-Blast, and to be honest, it has too many fans for our power of comprehension. It looks like a gaming play seat which has PC components embedded in it. And it promises to reach 60 mph in 1.5 seconds.

The C5-Blast’s thrust power comes from a 10-kW electric motor fed by a 2.4-kWh lithium-ion battery. Daymak doesn’t provide performance figures yet but, as the brand’s president Aldo Baiocchi puts it, “Speed will not be an issue, and we think we can even go eventually under one-second 0 to 60 making it faster than any vehicle in existence.” A title Rimac Automobili's electric hypercar is after nowadays.

Speed might not be a problem indeed, but the overall maneuverability of this thing could. C5-Blast uses a series of vertical fans but, unlike the famous Chaparral 2J Can-Am car, here they provide forward thrust, making the go-kart lighter — the system would reduce the vehicle’s weight from 441 lb (200 kg) to just 220 lb (100 kg).

"We could actually make it lighter and faster and at some point, but the Go Kart would start floating like the Star Wars land speeder, or we could add wings, and it would fly," tells Mr. Baiocchi. Now, maybe Daymak has a breakthrough in store for us but, as far as we understand the paradoxical and complex world of aerodynamics, making the car lighter by pushing it off the ground is dramatically changing the vehicle’s overall control. Maybe we’re missing something. All we know for sure is that we barely wait for this curious vehicle’s first trials.
