Is this Racing Simulator Worth $35,000?

And we’re not talking about getting a real car instead

To be fair, $35k is not the most money you can pay for a racing sim, but this example somehow seems expensive, given the actual context.

OK, so this crazy guy right here (who’s attitude, when all's said and done, I simply love) is showing us what’s like to fork a lot of dough for a setup capable of immersing you in virtual racing.

The rig features three humongous 65-inch curved OLED LG displays, on which three GTX Titan graphics cards fitted in a Maingear PC unit do the rendering work.

As for the wheel/seat setup, the racing sim uses a Fanatec wheel (replicating the one found in a Porsche 918) and RSEAT Assetto Corsa special edition seat.

It’s a wonderful setup nevertheless, but we’re wondering what makes it so expensive (while staring at those three OLED TVs). For under $30k you can get yourself a hydraulically-powered simulator, one that also simulates the G-forces you’re exposed.

Not to mention that we’re entering the VR universe, the most immersive experience up to date. At the moment, the VR technology is in continuous, rapid development, which means it’s not that cheap. But you can experiment with it paying much less than $35,000.

In conclusion, what car would you buy if you’re given this budget?
