The new Mercedes-AMG C43 Coupé is the two-door version of the C450 AMG sedan
Why the different naming, then? Well, Mercedes-AMG chairman Tobias Moers says that the C43 4Matic Coupé "starts the introduction of a whole series of new ‘43 models this year," which should mean that the C450 AMG sedan will get the C43 nameplate as well.
Just like the C450 AMG, the C43 Coupé is powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine rated at 367 PS (362 hp) and linked to a nine-speed 9G-Tronic automatic transmission and the AMG Performance 4Matic all-wheel drive system with rear-biased torque distribution of 31 to 69 percent (front/rear). Besides the high-performance powertrain, the C43 Coupé also features a sport-tuned chassis for improved handling characteristics.
The 3.0-liter biturbo engine delivers 367 PS and 520 Nm of torque, allowing the C43 Coupé to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and reach an electronically-limited top speed of 250 km/h. The standard AMG Ride Control sports suspension with adaptive variable damping in three stages is sourced from the Mercedes-AMG C63, with the C43 also featuring the AMG Dynamic Select system that offers five drive modes: Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus, and Individual.
Compared to the standard C-Class Coupé, the C43 also gets an upgraded braking system, as well as updated styling inside and out. Design tweaks include the AMG body kit with distinctive front and rear aprons, quad exhaust tailpipes, a diamond radiator grille, and 18-inch AMG light-alloy wheels in 5-spoke design. Inside, the C43 Coupé features an AMG instrument cluster with a checkered flag design, a multifunction sports steering wheel with a flattened bottom section, and upholstery in Artico man-made leather/Dinamica microfiber in black with sports seat upholstery layout and red topstitching.
