Paris-Bound C3 WRC Concept Announces Citroen’s World Rally Intentions

We say it’s the best looking WRC car for years

Citroen has just pulled the wraps off its C3 WRC Concept, a study announcing its future participation on the world rally scene. The car is visually related to the new C3, but is wider and has aerodynamic bits to give it that racy WRC look.

It’s frankly one of the most purposeful looking new rally cars, and a definite star presence in WRC 2017. Its aesthetic has also been shaped by new regulations allowing for more aero on cars, as well as additional power from their engines.

It features a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-pot that gains an additional 80 hp over the 300 hp such cars used to have. New regulations also allow the car to be 25 kg lighter than it could have been before, now tipping the scales at precisely 1,200 kg.

The final rally car will still receive slight changes prior to its competition debut, but for the most part, this is it.

WRC 2017 is shaping up to be a very exciting edition; Citroen is going up agains a series of high-budget factory teams like Hyundai, VW and Toyota all of which have their own production supermini-based cars ready or nearly ready for action.
