The People Really Want Uniti Quadricycle to be Real

The crowd-funded project car has already met its demands

The Sweden-based start-up project initially asked for €500,000 ($553,000) and has already gathered €660,000 ($730,000) with 39 days left until the campaign ends.

The retro-futuristic Uniti is a small electric vehicle aimed at "Western European, high-income urban millennials," which sounds like a rather restrictive target if you ask me. However, it looks like the crowd-funded start-up project already convinced 354 of those wealthy Westerners it is the real thing. So what is Uniti offering, you might ask.

Well, the Uniti development team is promising a "futuristic user experience" and "industry-leading safety rating for the L7e category", which is EuroNCAP code for heavy quadricycles. A "triple redundant steer-by-wire system" and the industry's first full-screen Head-Up Display are also among Uniti's unique differentiators.

These must be sought-after attributes, after all, given the fact they were enough to convince more than 300 people to fork around €2,000 ($2,300) for this project – there is no word yet on the power, electric range, recharging time or other technical bits.

The two-seater electric car is offered as an alternative solution to urban commutes, competing with Renault's Twizy and Zoe, two highest selling electric vehicles in Europe.

Although it's too soon to speak about this cute, futuristic thing's chances to roam around city streets of the future, the development team seems to know what are they doing – and have impressive references, such as Koenigsegg, Formula Student, Formula Racing, Ford or Volvo.

If it's anything (or better) than the Renault Twizy, then we're already hooked on Uniti. We wish the team best of luck.
