2016 Mitsubishi Outlander: Official Specs and Pictures

The three-row crossover gets a new face for the 2016 model year and some tech upgrades under the skin

The Mitsubishi Outlander has been revised for the 2016 model year with a new face that now has more chrome and a bit more attitude. The design is inspired from the Outlander PHEV Concept-S show car unveiled in Paris in 2014, and, according to Mitsubishi, this is their first model that uses the “Dynamic Shield” concept for the front fascia.

At the back, the facelifted crossover features LED taillights with a more modern look, but the changes don’t end here: Mitsubishi claims the 2016 Outlander has over 100 engineering and design tweaks over last year’s model.

They say work has been done in the suspension department, and also in regards to the CVT transmissions, which should be better at returning higher mpg values and offer a better driving experience.

Inside, there are better, softer materials used throughout, a slightly redesigned steering wheel.

In the United States, the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander gets the same engines as last year: a 2.4-liter petrol unit with 166 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque that’s linked to a CVT transmission, and a 3.0-liter V6 developing 224 hp and 215 lb-ft for the top GT trim that comes with a 6-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive.

Prices start at $22,995 MSRP, which is $200 less than the model it replaces.
