Kia Gives 2016 K900 New V6 Engine, Subtle Styling Updates

Kia K900 flagship sedan gains a new engine as well as styling and technology updates for the 2016 model year

The most important update is obviously the engine, an all-new 3.8-liter V6 unit which will be offered as the standard choice. The new engine is rated at 311 hp at 6,000 rpm and 293 lb-ft (397 Nm) of torque at 5,000 rpm. Linked to an 8-speed automatic transmission, the unit delivers an estimated fuel economy of 17 mpg city/26 mpg highway/20 mpg combined.

The 2016 Kia K900 is available in three new trim levels: V6 Premium, V6 Luxury and V8 Luxury. Standard features for V6 models include navigation, leather seating and panoramic sunroof.

In addition to the new V6 engine, all 2016 K900 models get exterior updates, including 18-inch wheels for the V6 and a new 19-inch chrome wheel for the V8, a revised front grille and a refreshed rear-end design with updated chrome trim, exhaust pipes, taillight design and a new bumper.

Kia has also thrown in some new features for 2016, including a Smart Power Trunk that opens the trunk automatically when the key fob is detected near the deck lid for more than three seconds, Smart Shift and Drive, and available Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB).

The latter system relies on the front camera and Advanced Smart Cruise Control (ASCC) system and is capable of bringing the K900 to a full stop. Among the interior updates, Kia mentions the new steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters available on all trim levels and an improved navigation system with a 9.2-inch high-definition touchscreen, premium audio and UVO Luxury Services.

UVO Luxury Services use an embedded modem that enables direct communication for features such as remote start/stop, remote climate control and remote lock/unlock via the UVO app. The app comes with a full suite of My Car Zone features, which includes Curfew, Speed and Geofence settings.
