2016 Nissan Sentra: Official Specs and Pictures

The Nissan Sentra received a facelift for the 2016 model year, and with it came a new face, interior improvements, and more safety tech

This is Nissan's Sentra for the 2016 model year. The compact sedan got a facelift that gave it a new V-shaped face, similar to the recently-unveiled Maxima, a new hood, fresh bumpers and redesigned lights – front and rear.

Additionally, the Sentra SR comes with extended side skirts, a rear spoiler, unique 17-inch alloy wheels, and a chrome exhaust tip.

Inside, the people at Nissan say that the 2016 Sentra has better seat fabrics, a new steering wheel (that looks suspiciously similar to the one found in the 370Z) and a new shift knob. There's also a tweaked center console and a 5.0-inch display for the instrument cluster in the SV, SR and SL trims.

The entry-level model comes with a four-speaker AM/FM/CD audio system while the options list gives you the choice of a five-inch color display system with six speakers. The top SL trim is equipped with a 5.8-inch touchscreen that comes with GPS navigation and the NissanConnect Apps – Pandora, Facebook, iHeartRadio, Twitter, and TripAdvisor.

Safety has been improved as well, with a host of new systems available, like Forward Emergency Braking, Intelligent Cruise Control, Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. More so, the 2016 Nissan Sentra should be better to drive because the suspension has been retuned and the body has been stiffened.

There is only one engine available – a 1.8-liter four-cylinder gasoline unit that makes 130 horsepower and 128 pound-feet of torque, linked to a six-speed manual transmission on the base S trim. On the rest of the range, there's a CVT fitted as standard.

Sales will begin by the end of 2015, with prices starting at $16,780.
