Alpina B7 Is That M7 You’ve Been Wishing For

Time has come to greet the Mighty B7 from Alpina, a 7 Series created to play the inexistent M7’s role. Behold!

Rumors had been prowling around the 7-Series since its new generation debut –– rumors about a sports version of it, one that BMW formally denied.

But that's what Alpina is here for –- converting sporty BMWs into sportier BMWs. So this is their take on the new 7-Series. It's called B7 xDrive, and it has no less than 600 horsepower to convince you it is worth the "sportier" attribute.

B7 is pushed forward (with all four wheels, mind you) by a 4.4-liter turbocharged V8 unit, good for 600 hp and 590 pound-feet of torque available from 3,000 rpm. Translated into performance figures, it goes like that: 0-62 mph in 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 193 miles per hour. Yes, we are still talking about a luxury sedan here.

In pure Alpina tradition, the B7 is not only super-powerful and super-quick –– it boasts more upscale interior leather and ornaments.

Despite its elitist pumped-up, luxury saloon mark, the B7 is not alone in this world –– there's plenty of competition to take care of: Audi S8 Plus, Mercedes-AMG S63/S65, Jaguar XJR, and Maserati Quattroporte GTS are already here, prepared to offer a good-quality time. We'd like to make a comparison test with all the previously mentioned characters.
