Germany wants a bite of Britain; will it get it?

Options on the supercar market are always aplenty provided your bank accounts are packed. For today's mano a mano, two such contraptions were summoned: Ingolstadt's heavy hitter aka the Audi R8 V10 Plus and Woking's sharp shooter aka the McLaren 570S Spider.

Refereeing this duel were the guys over at Auto Express but before we invite you to watch their video, the run-of-the-mill run through the cars' spec sheets. Nothing to bore you though, just a refresher of the essentials.

The in V10 Plus iteration, the R8 makes 602 bhp courtesy of a naturally-aspirated 5.2-liter V10 (also found inside the Lambo Huracán) and harnesses that power using Audi's quattro all-wheel-drive setup. Torque stands at 413 lb-ft at 6,500 rpm.

In the opposite chair, the McLaren 570S Spider relies on a much smaller, 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 churning out 562 bhp and 443 lb-ft at 5,000 rpm and aimed exclusively at the rear axle.

Note that the R8 is also heavier (1,695 kilos compared to the 1,486 kilos of the 570S) but makes up for the extra burden thanks to the AWD setup we mentioned earlier.

How this battle pans out is for you to discover in the video below.
