With subtle tweaks in and out
Lexus’ luxury coupé we know as the RC is getting a mid-career makeover just in time for the 2018 Paris Motor Show.
The refreshed Lexus RC is going on sale in Europe later this year and the Japanese are telling us that it ‘retains all the virtues of the current model, but takes them to a higher level by adopting the latest evolution of Lexus’ signature design language and sharpened driving dynamics.’
On that note, Lexus is also saying that it brought changes of the aerodynamic sort to the RC’s exterior. Also new are the front bumper corner that flows down from the headlights, the grille mesh pattern, and the extra triple LED headlamps.
At the rear, Lexus engineers added air ducts to the bumper which is said to improve stability and driving response.
In addition, the press blurb mentions that the Lexus RC also gets a fine-tuned suspension setup (which became stiffer) and powertrain (throttle response for the 2-liter turbocharged petrol has been improved, apparently).
Also on the menu, the new 19-inch wheels are assisted by new shock absorbers ‘which provide significant damping force from low suspension stroke speeds.’
Inside the cabin, designers went for the brushed treatment as far as the heater control and audio panels are concerned, increasing the knee pad for both driver and passenger in the process. New interior colors have been added and an LC-borrowed analogue clock is now placed on top of the instrument panel.
