Fiat Officially Details Linea Successor, The New Tipo Sedan

It’s also known as the Egea in Turkey where it’s also built

Fiat has resurrected its older Tipo nameplate to hang on the back of its new Linea-replacing sedan; it’s also known as the Egea in Turkey (where it’s also built), but that’s actually the only place where it isn’t called Tipo.

Dimensions are kept within current compact class constraints, with an overall length from bumper to bumper of 4.5 m or 14.7 ft and luggage capacity of 510 liters.

It’s an economy class car so don’t expect anything too fancy under the bonnet. The engine range kicks off with a 1.4-liter 95 PS petrol engine; next up is a larger 1.6-liter with 110 PS – the latter comes with an automatic six-speed autobox.

The other two power choices are diesels, a 1.3-liter and 1.6-liter with 95 and 120 PS respectively. The first is the only Tipo variant to have a five-speed manual gearbox, while the larger 1.6 gets a six-speed.

The sedan variant of the Tipo (the one shown in this gallery) has already entered production, but it will be joined by two more versions in 2016: one hatchback, one estate.
